First Light
A 60-day devotional and journal on giving Jesus your first hour
You say He's first. Your mornings are the evidence.
Not the alarm. The order. First Light is a 60-day devotional and journal built as a program: five rules, one honest line every morning, a Rep to do before noon, and a person who hears from you by six o'clock whether you kept the rules or not. It is written for men and women who are done telling themselves they'll get to God once life settles down.
5AM is not a time. The night-shift nurse's 5AM is 7 PM. The question the book asks sixty times, in sixty different kitchens, is simpler than an alarm clock: what does Jesus get first?
Every day has four pages
A page that goes into a passage of Scripture and into your actual life — the phone on the nightstand, the bank statement, the calendar, the night shift, the thing you swore you'd never do again. The Lie: the sentence you were about to tell yourself, taken seriously and then taken apart. The Rep: one physical, specific thing to do before noon. A journal page with a prompt written for that day's Rep, sixteen ruled lines, and one honest box: where I compromised today.
Twelve watches of five days
Each watch names one lie and spends five days killing it. "I'll do it tonight, once the kids are down." "God knows my heart. He doesn't care about the order." "I'm in a season." "I'm not legalistic about it." "I've prayed about it. Nothing changed." "My faith is private." Every watch ends with an accounting page you fill in from memory.
He got up while it was still dark and walked to a cross. Now you get up.

The Standard
Miss one and the watch restarts. Lie on the Account and the book does.
Finished it? Leave an honest review — what the sixty days did and did not do. That is the review someone needs to read.
- Up at your time. You set it. No snooze. The snooze button is the first lie of the day.
- Jesus before the phone. Nothing with a screen until the page and the prayer are done.
- The Rep, before noon. No carry-over.
- The Account. One honest line in the morning. If you compromised yesterday, write it. No explanation allowed, just the fact.
- Report by 6 PM. One person gets a text: "Done" or "Failed." Spouse, friend, nobody fake.
